What a scent claim can and cannot prove
A day count on a bottle is a marketing statement. It is not a wear test on your dog.
Coat length, sebum, swimming, and bedding all change how long a smell hangs.
The Association of American Feed Control Officials publishes ingredient standards for animal feed and pet food. Those AAFCO pages do not set shampoo formulas or fragrance rules.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does publish a human skin-protectant rule. In 21 CFR 347.10(f), the FDA lists colloidal oatmeal at a 0.007 percent minimum.
