Hide leather is for adult dogs that pull or wear gear for long work. Microfiber and nylon are for small bodies and wet walks.

A padded chest plate spreads leash force across the chest. Dogdom states that design on both BA8 listings. PESHOUCO states that pull force is spread across the body.
A tracking harness is a different tool. Ray Allen Manufacturing places a handle along the back and brass rings on the plate and the top. That layout is for a line that must stay off brush.
A step-in is closer to a safest cat harness than to a tracking plate. Soft Leather No Pull Dog Harness uses a back buckle after the paws go through. Didog Step in Dog Harnes for Small Dogs uses the same idea in nylon.

Measure chest girth before you open a size chart. Do not guess from breed name alone.
Stand the dog. Place a tape behind the front legs, at the widest chest point. Write that number in inches.
Then match the tape to the maker’s own range.

Hide leather needs a wipe, not a soak. Nylon and microfiber tolerate damp cloths better.

- Add a pet-safe leather conditioner only if the maker allows it.

No. Genuine leather is a real-hide grade. It is not the same as a full-grain stamp. PESHOUCO and Dogdom say genuine leather. Ray Allen Manufacturing says leather and does not print “full-grain” on the tracking-harness page. Soft Leather No Pull Dog Harness is microfibre leather. Didog Step in Dog Harnes for Small Dogs is nylon.
Can a leather harness stop pulling on its own?
No. A harness can move force off the neck. It does not train a dog by itself. PESHOUCO and Dogdom both describe pressure spread across the chest. You still need a short leash and a calm start. A front-clip nylon trainer is a different tool. None of these seven listings is that trainer.
How tight should a leather harness sit?
